Monty loved his toys. He loved to play. He was full of joy and heart - our bright, silly boy. Life was busy then. I was a full-time working mom of two, going to school, doing all the things - and somehow, his puppy days slipped into grey muzzles before I could catch my breath. At 15, his time still wasn't long enough.
When we said goodbye, I slept with his favourite toy in my bed for over a month.
It was the only tangible piece of him I could hold.
Back then, I wasn't the photographer I am now. I didn't have the skills — or the time — to create the images I now make for other dog parents. I have one photo of him that I treasure deeply, but it's not the full story of who he was. So, I created a tribute — one final portrait, not of Monty, but for him. His favourite toy. His spirit. His joy.
